One of the features I’ve heard people wish for in QuarkXPress 8 is to check spelling as you type. Well, $50 gets you that. AutoCorrectXT 3.0 is an XTension for QuarkXPress 8 that adds an auto-correct feature and can correct user-defined typing errors as well.

In addition, the XTension lets you create “boilerplate” text — words or phrases that can be inserted by typing a few characters. It supports English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Norwegian.

I just realized that this Xtension is crashing Quark 8.1. For whatever reason, it only seemed to function some of the time [didn't always see the misspelled words underlined]. Today, every time I opened a document and went to edit the text in a word that would appear as misspelled [a web address] Quark would stop responding [actually happened on other occasions, but I didn't make the connection]. This happened several times in a row before I disabled AutoCorrectXT 2.0. I was then able to resume work as normal. Note that I didn’t use the Xtension with Quark 8.02. I thought it would be really helpful, but something didn’t quite mesh.
Just emailed tech support at ThePowerXChange to see what they have to say.

I am using AutoCorrectXT for quite a while now and am quiet satisfied with the performance. I was fed up with the QuarkXPress inbuilt spell checking methodology. AutoCorrectXT is something which I have already being experiencing in MS Word.
Why don’t you try their latest AutoCorrectXT 3.0 upgrade from http://www.athenasoftsolutions.com/Products.html.
The crahs might be a problem elsewhere. You can also try mailing to AthenaSoft directly since they are prompt in their reply.
