Are you using a Mac? Maybe it's a permissions problem. Have you tried rebuilding permissions (in Disk Utility)?

In any case, I think you'll have better luck getting an answer in Quark's support forums:

When I open a file in Quark 8, make changes
and then save those changes, the next time I open the file there is a message that I won't be able to save changes and the file is locked.

Sometimes if I save it again in a different folder
I can save more changes, but after I change the file another 2 times it locks again.

I have files in my trash that won't go away when I empty the trash because they are locked.

I don't want to go through a lot of saving and resaving to avoid this.

When you say "lock," do you mean items are locked?

And have you got any corroboration anywhere? That sounds scary.

I wrote before about QXP 8 having a flaw,
that the file is locked and changes can't be saved
after it locks for no apparent reason.
I would really like to star using QXP 8, but this is a very irritating thing about the program.
Has anyone come up with a solution for this problem. Is there a preference that will change the program so the file doesn't lock?
