Commentary

MacVoicesLast week I had a good time chatting with Chuck Joiner about QuarkXPress 8 on his MacVoices podcast. He asked several insightful questions, and I enjoyed sharing my thoughts about what’s new in version 8 and what’s new at Quark.

Here’s one highlight: when Chuck asked me how Quark is different these days, I replied:

“You take a whole new crew of people in, with a gem of a product, and allow them to polish it and show it off and tell the world about it — that’s how I see Quark right now.”

The interview is 41 minutes long. You can listen to it, or downloaded it, at the iTunes Store and the MacVoices website.

    dead link, Jay

  2. Jay Nelson Says:

Do you have iTunes? If so, the link takes you directly to the MacVoices entry in the iTunes Store. That way, you can either listen to the podcast directly, and/or subscribe to their regular podcast.

If you don’t have iTunes, try going directly to their website:

I do have iTunes (7.6.2), and I’m using Tiger.

Keep getting “Not available in the U.S. Store” message.

  4. Jay Nelson Says:

Wow, that’s weird. It works on our Leopard machines, but not on Tiger.

But on Tiger, when I go to the iTunes store and search for MacVoices, their podcasts show up as usual, and when I copy the URL for the podcast that I’m in, it’s identical to the one hyperlinked in the story above. (BTW, to copy the URL of a podcast in iTunes, just Control-click or right-click on the podcast and choose “Copy iTunes Store URL”.

In any case, you can always access the podcast at the MacVoices website: http://www.macvoices.com/wordpress/macvoices-892-jay-nelson-previews-the-features-and-functionality-of-the-new-quarkxpress-8/

  5. Jay Nelson Says:

Aha! I see the problem. The final phrase in my story was mistakenly included in the URL for the iTunes hyperlink! (the bit about going directly to the MacVoices website)

We’ll be fixing that right away. Thanks for your persistence!
