QuarkXPress offers an easy way to add color to alternating rows or columns in a table. Select an existing table, then under the script-shaped menu, choose Tables> Row or Column Color….

Choose which row or column to begin with, and how many to skip between colored rows or columns.

Choose a color and a tint and click the OK button.

Alternating rows or columns will be colored with that color and tint.

When I try to cut and paste a row in 6.5, it crashes QXP down.
Is this a problem with the Table tool in 7?

I found out today that this script is broken under Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Quark says they are working on a fix, but don’t know when it will be ready.
It seems that a LOT of things break when upgrading to Leopard, in many applications. I know that Apple made some significant low-level changes in Leopard, but I’m feeling kind of frustrated right now that 7 months after its release, major applications still have crippling issues — including Adobe’s apps and many, many others.

I just cut and pasted a row in QXP 7.31 in Mac OS X 10.5. So, I know it works there.
I’m surprised you’re having trouble in 6.5. Have you asked Quark about it?
