The August 6th Design Tools Weekly podcast mentions DragNCopy, a terrific free XTension from Badia Software that lets you duplicate items by simply holding the Option key while dragging. DragNCopy also remembers the offsets of the last drag and copy operation, so you can generate additional duplications simply by pressing Command-D. (Mac only.)
